Whether you want elegant waterfront dining or a local brew pub, within only a couple of miles of The Villa, we probably have exactly what you are looking for. Listed below are some of our favorites, click on the name in the box below to see a menu. The menus are not necessarily up to date--items may change as will prices. We offer these to give you an idea of the various offerings.

Looking for some of the best food in town? When we want the ultimate in taste, Primo Grill is our own personal favorite for flavor—and our guests agree! Their chefs really care that every plate is most appetizing and presented beautifully. Their warm bread and sausage salad is superb—but then so is everything else. Located in the heart of the 6th Ave. Business District, but when you step inside you are transported a world away. Totally nonsmoking and they also have a wonderful wine cellar.

Intimate—yet convivial. Cafe Divino is our favorite for a light lunch or dinner and a great glass of wine! Appetizers and desserts are superb, too. Nestled in the Old Town District, adjacent to Starbucks, it only has about a dozen  tables, many for two and a small bar. Service is sooo friendly and it just has a great neighborhood feel. It is totally non-smoking.

For those times that are truly special .  When only a tuxedo attired waiter will set the tone--and absolutely great food is a must you should enjoy El Gaucho. Located right next door to the Museum District and just off I-705, this restaurant is known primarily for its steak--but has a varied menu. Every item is prepared impeccably.

A tad fancier than most of our local restaurants—The Lobster Shop waterfront eatery features a large and wonderful menu. There are special discounted meals served in the early evening. Our guests from all over the planet have given this place top ratings for its excellent seafood. Plus it is on the waterfront—with superb views of Mt. Rainier from the deck…really a great place to spend a summer evening watching the sunset. Their other location at Dash Point is more intimate, in an old house down by the water--also great food.

The most wondeful chocolate truffles-- great lunches and a superb dining expaerience— Affairs has been a favorite of ours for years! Everything they offer is prepared perfectly. The quiet yet congenial atmosphere is just perfect and did I mention the chocolate (and other desserts). This is a great place to stop in and pick up something decadent to enjoy back at theVilla in the evening. They even do breakfasts.

A perfect blend of great food and a bit of whimsey, The Over the Moon Cafe is located next door to Ruby's design studio and  close to the Broadway Antique District. It is a great place to stop for lunch on your way to or from the Museum of Glass.

A Tacoma Landmark, this bar and grill has recently come under new ownership and a complete renovation. Quiet, intimate, great food: all at reasonable prices. The Clocktower.  Conveniently located downtown just below the Antique District and the Broadway Performing Arts District it is also a great stopoff when doing the museums downtown.

The Spar offers one of the best burgers in town—and water views—if it wasn’t for the smoke, we’d probably spend much more time here! Way "above average" pub food here, plus a great location in the heart of Old Town make this a favorite local watering hole.

Further afield, there are three restaurants about a twenty minute drive South that we enjoy:

Wonderful Cajun cuisine—as hot as you like it! Almost like sitting in a New Orleans's Café, From The Bayou restaurant features great service, huge helpings and a university atmosphere (Pacific Lutheran University is just across the road). It is worth the drive!

There can never be too many wonderful Italian restaurants—and Marzano is one of our own favorites! It is very small and sometimes hard to get into—though summer is easier with outdoor dining available. Located just across from Pacific Lutheran University, it draws the college crowd—and just about everybody else craving authentic Italiano.

E R Rogers overlooks the Sound in Steilacoomb.
