Choosing an inn in an area you are not familiar with is always somewhat nerve racking--especially if your significant other is as picky as mine is. To help validate all the great things I have said about The Villa on this site, here are a few of the comments made about us by the media and our guests:
Richcolor's Northern Exposure: "one of the most beautiful spots you will find in the Northwest for photographic location work."
Exeter News, New Market, New Hampshire: "We chose to stay at a bed and breakfast while in Tacoma and a good choice it was. The house, actually a villa set on a hillside overlooking the harbor. Stucco with a red tile roof, you would guess you were in Italy. Decorated and furnished in elegant style by the owners. It was reminiscent of the Moody Parsonage down to Rockingham Junction in Newmarket. Beautiful prints of exotic birds and animals were hung in about every room and the furnishings were of a 19th century era. The owners. were the perfect hosts of The Villa so named and our stay there was the finishing touch to a perfect mini-vacation in Tacoma."
Seattle Post Intelligencer, Hilda Anderson, Getaways: The 12,000sf house is bright and cheery...provide guests with several inviting retreats...the sun room with its white wicker furniture and floral cushions..."
The Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest: " So authentic-looking is this Mediterranean-style villa that you can imagine it being air-lifted here straight from old-world Italy. Delightful surprises in architecture and design await around every corner...draped seductively with white cloth, a private veranda overlooking the neighborhood, a fireplace and a sitting area with couches so soft you could easily get lost in the comfort."
Northwest Best Places: "...a home that stands out from the crowd...gracious Bed and Breakfast...grand view of Commencement Bay and the Olympics..."
Fodor's: "... a large formal entrance and lush gardens...Your stay isn't complete until you enjoy the gourmet breakfast served by friendly hosts..."
Tacoma News Tribune, Habitat: "...six guest suites are furnished in Italian country, but for the holidays its understated elegance will share the spotlight with The Villa's own festival of trees, ranging in height from just 2 1/2 feet tall to one whose top ornament just touches the living room ceiling..."
There are so many more, from Sunset to the San Francisco Chronicle, but it is even more important that you know what our guests think. Following are "one liners" from just one of our guest journals:
"...thank you for the wonderful breakfast and for making us feel at ease..."
"...blessed by your hospitality...has brought us to the 'most professional' yet..."
"Coming here was the best gift that I have ever been given.."
"...we will definitely recommend The Villa to others..."
"...your home has given new definition to color and detail in developing a beautiful house. Everywhere something of interest, attesting to the eye of an artist..."
"...David and I appreciate your wit and humor as much as the comfort of our surroundings..."
"... what the "doctor" ordered. I woke up this morning feeling refreshed and ready to face my life again..."
...and so on. All I can stay is what I try to tell every guest--"We are simply a reflection of our guests. Your care and warmth makes us continually strive to offer the very best we can."
